Why A Remote Workforce Works for EMW3

While based in New York City, EMW3 takes great pride in being a fully remote growth marketing company. Our employees are located across the U.S. from Seattle, WA to Honolulu, HI, and internationally with staff in Canada, England, Portugal, Mexico, New Zealand, and Costa Rica. While remote work initially started due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our founders quickly recognized that technology enables efficiency and reinforces our company philosophy of flexibility, diversity, and adaptability. “EMW3 thrived during the pandemic, and has remained fully remote,” says Co-Founder Sophy Zhang. “We organize annual retreats to allow our team to meet face-to-face, develop bonds, and focus on our core values. In fact, we just held our most recent retreat in San Diego, California.”

Benefits to the Company

As a company, EMW3 values diversity and culture, and that aligns with being fully remote. Many of our clients have an international focus and benefit from our global capability. In addition to having local expertise and availability across different time zones, our staff are fluent in multiple languages including Mandarin, English, Spanish, and French. “Our remote focus was instrumental in winning clients based in China, Dubai, Canada, E.U., and Singapore.”

Along with geographical benefits, being a fully remote company has allowed us to cut costs. Our clients appreciate that our fees don’t include overhead. EMW3 allocates these savings to areas that we feel provide a better return on investment. We host an annual company retreat that focuses on team-building and our corporate culture. We provide regular educational and training sessions to ensure our sta further hone their skills.

Access to Top Talent

Being a fully remote company allows us to work with the most eligible employees without having to worry about the geographical boundaries that come with non-remote companies. We focus on finding ambitious and bold candidates who stand out from the crowd. Not being limited by location means our clients gain access to the top talent in the field and receive guidance with an international mindset.

Benefits to the Employee

As a company, the happiness and individual success of our employees is extremely important. The decision to transition to being fully remote was made with our team’s input. They enjoy the flexibility and freedom that comes with remote work. “They mentioned they felt happier. The time saved not having to commute gave them better work/life balance and we’ve seen it reflected in productivity and retention,” says Zhang.

According to a study conducted by Owl Labs in 2021, 88% of U.S. employees said they were happier working remotely when asked if they preferred remote versus in-person work. Remote work grants employees and company owners alike more flexibility to improve their work-life balance by being able to choose their schedules and work towards established objectives at a pace best suited for them. Remote work works best when your team has a culture of transparency, integrity, and open communication. Zhang advises companies considering the move to fully remote to “lean in and don't be afraid to try out project management and team communication software/platforms.” With an open mind and strong communication skills, remote work is here to stay.
